{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.8903","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.8903","heading":"Definitions for KRS 65.8901 to 65.8923 and 69.8925.","body":"As used in KRS 65.8901 to 65.8923 and 65.8925, the following definitions shall apply:\n(1) \"Commission\" means a regional wastewater commission established pursuant to\nKRS 65.8905;\n(2) \"Member entity\" means any of the following entities located in the counti es of\nBullitt, Hardin, Jefferson, Meade, or Oldham, that are participating in or that are\neligible to participate in a regional wastewater commission:\n(a) A city that owns a wastewater system;\n(b)  An urban-county government that owns a wastewater system;\n(c) A sanitation district created pursuant to KRS Chapters 67 and 220;\n(d) A metropolitan sewer district or a joint sewer agency established under KRS\nChapter 76;\n(e) A water district that owns a wastewater system established under KRS\nChapter 74; and\n(f) An agency of the federal, state, or local government owning a wastewater\nsystem subject to regulation by the Kentucky Division of Water;\n(3) \"Organizing official\" means the chief elected official of the unit of general purpose\nlocal government elected by a majority vote of the member entities. The organizing\nofficial may be a county judge/executive, a city mayor, or a mayor of an urban -\ncounty government or a consolidated local government; and\n(4) \"Wastewater\" means raw, untreated, or partially treated sewag e and other polluted\nwaters collected by lateral and main lines from residential, commercial, and\nindustrial customers of wastewater systems owned by or under contract with a\nmember entity of a commission and properly conveyed to designated receiving\npoints for further transportation or treatment. \"Wastewater\" includes stormwater.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39875","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:23Z","sha256":"b3407eb7cf814cd5f1c465fa62f408ed02165b15e9205234d5716cb55622dc27","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.8901","next":"us-ky/krs-65.8905"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
