{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67.180","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67.180","heading":"Motor vehicle and compensation insurance -- Purchase by county except","body":"county containing city of first class.\n(1) The fiscal court of each county, except a county containing a city of the first class\nmay, in its discretion, for the protection of the p ublic and its employees, appropriate\ncounty funds to purchase policies of insurance of all kinds deemed advisable,\ncovering vehicles operated by the county, and compensation insurance covering\nemployees of the county receiving injuries arising out of and i n the course of\nemployment.\n(2) Suits instituted on such policies may be maintained against the county only for the\npurpose of obtaining a judgment which when final shall measure the liability of the\ninsurance carrier to the injured party for whose benefit  the insurance policy was\nissued, but not to be enforced or collectible against the county or fiscal court or the\nmembers thereof.","path":["KRS Chapter 67"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43618","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:25Z","sha256":"b6d65b5a1c7e543f2467232e56312dce0e545ed0244ec2db83311d2108e14363","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67.170","next":"us-ky/krs-67.185"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
