{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67.280","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67.280","heading":"Assignment of new county to various election districts.","body":"Where the two (2) old counties were in the same representative, senatorial, judicial\ncircuit, congressional, or railroad commissioner district or districts, the new county shall\nremain in the same district or districts. Where the two (2) old counties were not in the\nsame district or districts, the new county shall be placed in the following district or\ndistricts: In the representative, senatorial, judicial circuit, congressional, or railroad\ncommissioner district or districts, respectively, in which the old county, having the largest\npopulation, was located; provided, that if each of the two (2) old counties was a separate\ndistrict the new county shall be divided into two (2) such districts, each district to be\ncoterminous with the boundary lines of the old counties; provided further, that if any of\nthe election districts formed under the provisions of KRS 67.190 to 67.270 as a result of\ncounty consolidation are in violation of the requirements of the Constitution, such\nconsolidation shall not be effective un less the General Assembly, at its first session after\nthe consolidation, shall redistrict the state in compliance with the provisions of the\nConstitution.","path":["KRS Chapter 67"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23719","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:25Z","sha256":"fb0f8479e29593fc0b618fe435f6d6bc097b44ca39b7d15d9cede80a2dbbf997","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67.270","next":"us-ky/krs-67.290"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
