{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67.852","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67.852","heading":"Continued effect of existing contracts, bonds, franchises, and other","body":"obligations after adoption of charter county government.\n(1) All contracts, bonds, franchises, and other obligations of a participating city and the\ncounty in existence on the effec tive date of a charter county government, including\nbut not limited to collective bargaining agreements, shall continue in force and\neffect as obligations of the charter county government for the term of those\ncontracts, bonds, franchises, and other obligations.\n(2) The charter county government shall succeed to all rights and entitlements of these\ncontracts, bonds, franchises, and other obligations.\n(3) All conflicts in the provisions of the contracts, bonds, franchises, and other\nobligations shall be reso lved in a manner that does not impair the rights of any of\nthe parties.\n(4) Nothing in KRS 67.825 to 67.875 shall be construed to nullify a participating city's\npetition pursuant to KRS 345.010 to be included under KRS Chapter 345 for\ncollective bargaining with firefighters. Nothing in KRS 67.825 to 67.875 shall be\nconstrued to nullify any other legal obligations requiring the continuance of\ncollective bargaining with a county's or participating city's employees. To the extent\nrequired by KRS Chapter 345 or  any other legal obligation requiring the\ncontinuance of collective bargaining, the charter county government shall continue\nto bargain collectively with those employees who were covered under a contract\nwith the county or participating city at the time of  the formation of the charter\ncounty government.","path":["KRS Chapter 67"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41115","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:26Z","sha256":"a1110cc96d93ee96d4759100011c1ce8d9cc1257394a0974e67609abd8d7c5b9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67.850","next":"us-ky/krs-67.855"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
