{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67.870","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67.870","heading":"Employment on basis of political activity prohibited.","body":"(1) No person shall be appointed to any position in a charter county government\nbecause of political, partisan service rendered by him or his family, or because of\npolitical sentiment or affiliation nor shall any person be dismissed, suspended, or\nreduced in grade or pay because of any political opinion.\n(2) The appointment and continuance of employment of all persons in a charter county\ngovernment shall depend solely upon their ability and willingness to perform their\nduties, and shall not be a reward for poli tical activity or contribution to campaign\nfunds.\n(3) No employee of a charter county government shall be forced to pay or collect any\nassessments made by political organizations, contribute to political campaign funds,\nor be active in politics.\n(4) While on duty, no employee of a charter county government shall be active in\npolitics or work for the election of candidates.","path":["KRS Chapter 67"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23813","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:27Z","sha256":"249bbb4bc74ba9f0dd83de8fc50008af8f387e0229afc0b31e6132918683de92","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67.865","next":"us-ky/krs-67.875"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
