{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67.912","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67.912","heading":"Legislative council -- Chief executive and administrative officers -- Powers,","body":"duties, and salary of CEO.\n(1) The legislative authority of a unified local government shall be vested in a\nlegislative council elected in the manner provided by the unification plan.\n(2) The executive authority of a unified local government shall be vested in a chief\nexecutive officer elected in the manner provided by the unification plan. The chief\nexecutive officer shall have the powers and duties of a county judge/executiv e\nunder KRS 67.710 and a mayor under KRS 83A.130.\n(3) A chief administrative officer may be employed to serve on the staff of the chief\nexecutive officer. A chief administrative officer shall be appointed by the chief\nexecutive officer, subject to confirma tion by a vote of three -fifths (3/5) of the\nlegislative council, and possess education or professional experience, or both, in the\narea of public administration. A chief administrative officer may be removed by\nexecutive order of the chief executive officer or by a vote of three-fifths (3/5) of the\nentire legislative body.\n(4) The chief executive officer shall appoint all members of boards, commissions,\nauthorities, or other entities formed by the unified local government after the\neffective date of the uni fication plan and shall fill all vacancies as they occur on\nboards, commissions, authorities, or other entities created by the county or a\nparticipating city prior to the effective date of the unification plan, which continue\nto exist after unification.
