{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67a.200","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67A.200","heading":"Merit or civil service system -- Protection of employees' prior rights --","body":"Exemption.\n(1) Whenever the comprehensive plan adopted pursuant to KRS Chapter 67A requires\nthe implementation of a merit or civil service system for the employees of an urban-\ncounty government, such system shall be implemented by the urban -county\ngovernment so as to guarantee the substantive and procedural rights possessed by\nany employee of a government in existence within the boundaries of the urban -\ncounty prior to the effective date of merger.\n(2) During the time a merit or civil service system is being implemented, pursuant to\nthe requirements of a comprehensive plan, all procedural and substantive rights\npossessed by any employee of a government in existence within the bound aries of\nthe urban-county prior to the effective date of merger shall be protected.\n(3) Any urban-county government created after December 31, 1987, shall be exempt\nfrom the provisions of KRS 67A.210 to 67A.350.","path":["KRS Chapter 67A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23853","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:27Z","sha256":"0fe372774a3f55650a704051c35f208b409de396448a1561a8914428a6650656","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67a.160","next":"us-ky/krs-67a.205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
