{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67a.400","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67A.400","heading":"Service credit -- Computation.","body":"(1) Each person becoming a member on the date of establishment shall be entitled to\nfull credit for all service rendered prior to such date. Each person becoming a\nmember after the date of establishment shall be entitled to credit after such date,\nprovided con tributions are made or, after August 1, 1982, picked up pursuant to\nKRS 67A.510(2) for all such subsequent service. Total service shall include prior\nservice and membership service.\n(2) The following types of service shall be eligible for service credit:\n(a) Service as a full-time member of a department of the government;\n(b) Service in a civilian or other capacity in the service of the government,\nCommonwealth of Kentucky, or the federal government, while on approved\nleave of absence from a department, subject to maximum credit for such\nservice of one (1) year;\n(c) Service in any branch of the armed forces of the United States during a period\nof national emergency while on leave of absence from a department, provided\nthat such leave -of-absence-service s hall not exceed five (5) years, and that\nsuch member shall reenter the service of a department of the government\nwithin a period of six (6) months following the date of separation other than\nby dishonorable discharge from such service; and\n(d) All service  rendered in a civilian capacity as provided in subsection (3) of\nKRS 67A.390.\n(3) In the computation of service credit, nine (9) months or more of service during a\nyear shall entitle a member for one (1) year of service; six (6) to nine (9) months of\nservice shall constitute three -quarters (3/4) of a year; three (3) to six (6) months,\none-half (1/2) year; less than three (3) months, one-quarter (1/4) of a year.","path":["KRS Chapter 67A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23875","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:27Z","sha256":"f5dace636aab78d9ef3119a7fa800a9e29fef01c7b65b29f79670dde59575e43","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67a.390","next":"us-ky/krs-67a.402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
