{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67a.6901","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67A.6901","heading":"Definitions for KRS  67A.6901 to 67A.6911.","body":"As used in KRS 67A.6901 to 67A.6911:\n(1) \"Secretary\" means the secretary of the cabinet;\n(2) \"Corrections personnel\" means  an employee of an urban-county government\npermanently assigned to a detention facility and working in any capacity in that\ndetention facility;\n(3) \"Cabinet\" means the Education and Labor Cabinet;\n(4) \"Exclusive representative\" means  the labor organization which has been\ndesignated by the cabinet as the representative of the majority of police\nofficers, firefighter personnel, firefighters, or  corrections personnel in\nappropriate units or has been so recognized by the urban-county government;\n(5) \"Firefighter\" means  an employee of an urban-county government engaged in\nserving the public by providing fire protection, including those covered by KRS\nChapter 95;\n(6) \"Firefighter personnel\" means dispatch communications officers;\n(7) \"Labor organization\" means  any chartered labor organization of any kind in\nwhich police officers, firefighter personnel, firefighters, or corrections personnel\nparticipate and  which  exists for the primary purpose  of dealing with\nurban-county governments concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages, rate\nof pay, hours of employment, or conditions of employment;\n(8) \"Person\"  includes one  (1) or  more  individuals, labor organizations,\nassociations, corporations, legal representatives, trustees, trustees in\nbankruptcy, or receivers; and\n(9) \"Police officer\" means  an employee, sworn or certified, of an urban-county\ngovernment  who  participates in the Law  Enforcement Foundation Program\nFund provided in KRS 15.410 to 15.510.","path":["KRS Chapter 67A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52333","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:28Z","sha256":"2408a0278557dfab1379770a0d262dcd2538b3cb13dcd9c342a921e8fd0f7d13","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67a.690","next":"us-ky/krs-67a.6902"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
