{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67a.840","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67A.840","heading":"Legislative findings and declarations.","body":"(1) The General Assembly hereby finds and declares that it is a policy of the\nCommonwealth to retain agriculture and rural landscapes in urban counties.\n(2) The General Assembly further finds and declares that the preservation of agriculture\nand rural landscapes contributes to the development of tourism and recreation.\n(3) The General Assembly further finds and declares that the urban -county form of\ngovernment promotes industrialization and commercialization, attended by rapid\nresidential development, which thr eatens the preservation of agriculture and rural\nlandscapes.\n(4) The General Assembly further finds and declares that in urban counties a single\ngovernment embraces the entire county and, by nature, has within its jurisdiction\nboth substantial urban areas and substantial rural areas thereby creating the ability to\ndistribute both the benefits and the financial obligations of a purchase of\ndevelopment rights program fairly among the constituents of a single government.\n(5) The General Assembly further finds and declares that conferring responsibility upon\nthe electorate in urban -county governments to make decisions regarding the\nestablishment and funding of programs to retain and enhance agriculture and rural\nlandscapes and to promote tourism and recreation is consistent with the broad home\nrule concepts embodied in this chapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 67A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23946","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:28Z","sha256":"702198280239b4dc370975f2565ec490d5852ff6f62c2c1e53ecc406646808c5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67a.825","next":"us-ky/krs-67a.841"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
