{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67c.107","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67C.107","heading":"Employees of city and county to become employees of consolidated local","body":"government -- Rights, privileges, and protections of employees -- Bargaining\nunits and labor contracts -- Continuation of benefits of police and firefighters'\npension funds.\n(1) Upon public approval at a regular or special election of a consolidation of a city of\nthe first class and its county, all regular employees of the city of the first class and\nthe county shall become employees of the consolidated local government.\n(2) All rights, privileges, and protections attributed to all regular employees by a civil\nservice or classified service system established by a city of the first class or a county\ncontaining a city of the first class shall continue in effect until changed by statute  or\nordinance when applicable.\n(3) A consolidated local government shall recognize and shall continue to bargain with\nany bargaining unit consisting of public employees recognized by either the\npreviously existing city or county government.\n(4) All labor contracts under renegotiation or in existence in a city of the first class or a\ncounty containing a city of the first class on the effective date of a local government\nconsolidation shall, if being renegotiated, continue to be renegotiated by the\nconsolidated local government, and if in existence, continue in effect until the\nexpiration of the terms of the contracts at which time new contracts shall be\nrenegotiated between the consolidated local government and affected labor\nrepresentatives.\n(5) Upon the est ablishment of a consolidated local government, all rights, privileges,\nand protections of beneficiaries of a policemen's retirement fund and a firefighter's\npension fund in a city of the first class shall continue in effect until all benefits due\neach beneficiary have been paid.","path":["KRS Chapter 67C"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24005","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:29Z","sha256":"7a857a7eb3ad3991608f621c77c1308e41fe2b6837ec461dd2fe82abc7708bde","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67c.105","next":"us-ky/krs-67c.109"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
