{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67c.116","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67C.116","heading":"Appointments of members to administrative bodies -- Procedures --","body":"Applicability.\n(1) Except as otherwise expressly provided by law, in appointing members to boards,\ncommittees, commissions, task forces, ad hoc committees, and other administra tive\nbodies created by or whose membership is appointed by the executive authority,\nlegislative authority, or a combination of both of the consolidated local government,\neither under their home rule authority or in response to a requirement or option\nunder the authority of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, the appointing authority shall\nmake a conscientious effort to select, from among the most qualified persons, those\npersons whose appointment would ensure that the membership of the board,\ncommittee, commission, task force, ad hoc committee, or other administrative body\naccurately reflects the geographic population of the area represented by the local\nboard, committee, commission, task force, or ad hoc committee, or other\nadministrative body as determined purs uant to the most recent federal decennial\ncensus, unless the law regulating such appointment requires otherwise.\n(2) If there are multiple appointing authorities for the board, committee, commission,\ntask force, ad hoc committee, or administrative body, th ey shall consult with each\nother to ensure compliance with this section.\n(3) This section shall apply to appointments and reappointments made after July 15,\n2024. It shall not prohibit a member of a board, committee, commission, task force,\nad hoc committee, or other administrative body from completing a term serving as a\nmember when this section takes effect. A person appointed to a board, committee,\ncommission, task force, ad hoc committee, or other administrative body prior to\nJuly 15, 2024, shall not be  removed from the appointment solely for the purpose of\nmeeting the requirements of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 67C"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55509","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:29Z","sha256":"a7c3f5e488ea7c9ef57b3afba21a2fa80899a5758f9190e62f82266edb74336a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67c.115","next":"us-ky/krs-67c.117"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
