{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67c.117","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67C.117","heading":"Policy of equal opportunity for all citizens -- Policy of fair representation","body":"in all aspects of governance for minority citizens and businesses --\nConsolidated local government to ensure achievement of policies.\n(1) (a) It shall be the policy of the  consolidated local government to ensure that\nopportunities generated directly or indirectly by the consolidated local\ngovernment are equally available to all citizens without regard to race, color,\nreligion, national origin, marital status, physical handicap, sex, or age.\n(b) It shall also be the policy of the consolidated local government to include the\nminority community in all aspects of governance in the consolidated local\ngovernment. Minority citizens and business shall be represented in all actions\nof the consolidated government, including but not limited to government\nemployment, appointments to boards or commissions, contracting, and\npurchasing.\n(2) The percentage of minority citizens who shall be employed by the consolidated\nlocal government shall be no less than the percentage of minority citizens available\nin the consolidated local government's Metropolitan Statistical Area defined by the\nUnited States Office of Management and Budget as used by the United States\nCensus Bureau survey. The percentag e of minority citizens who shall be appointed\nto each of its boards and commissions shall be no less than the percentage of\nminority citizens in the community, or the percentage of minority representatives on\nthe consolidated local government's legislative body, whichever is greater.\n(3) The consolidated local government shall adopt ordinances and develop policies to\nachieve the mandate set forth in this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 67C"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42356","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:29Z","sha256":"e08474d4cbe718561a7f2582f760691d443fa58c46462ce7d96911afbb1e2f89","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67c.116","next":"us-ky/krs-67c.119"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
