{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67c.313","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67C.313","heading":"Police officers deemed qualified to continue duties and to be permanent","body":"employees -- Probationary officers.\n(1) All police officers of whatever rank and title of a consolidated local government\npolice force shall be covered by the provisions of this s ection, except probationary\nofficers. All officers of a consolidated local government police force on active duty\nor service as of the effective date of an ordinance creating a consolidated local\ngovernment police merit system and board, shall be deemed fi t and qualified to\ncontinue their respective duties of employment on or for the consolidated local\ngovernment police force without examination or further qualification.\n(2) All personnel covered by the provisions of this section, except probationary\nofficers, shall be deemed to be permanent employees subject to their ability to\nsatisfactorily perform their respective duties and further subject to their good\nbehavior.\n(3) A probationary officer shall not be included in the merit system until that officer has\nsatisfactorily completed his or her initial probationary period which shall be one (1)\nyear from his or her sworn date. The one (1) year probationary period may be\nextended for up to six (6) months upon showing of just cause by the chief and\napproved by the board.\n(4) Officers covered by the provisions of KRS 67C.303 and serving promotional\nprobationary periods shall not be deemed excluded from the merit system during the\npromotional probationary periods.","path":["KRS Chapter 67C"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24032","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:29Z","sha256":"60bc538a42b59763264c97ff499fb8e54a7ff09b4527ca6c2b54350f2da6be1a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67c.311","next":"us-ky/krs-67c.315"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
