{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67c.315","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67C.315","heading":"Application to chief, assistant chief, and officers above the rank of","body":"captain.\n(1) The provisions of KRS 67C.303, 67C.305, 67C.307, 67C.309, and 67C.319 shall\nnot apply to the chief of police, assistant chief, and any officers above the rank of\ncaptain of the consolidated local government police force. These officers shall be\nappointed by the mayor and shall not be considered covered under the employment\nprotections of the merit board, except as provided in subsection (2) of this section.\n(2) Any offic er originally covered by the provisions of KRS 67C.303, 67C.305,\n67C.307, and 67C.309 who shall accept an appointment and qualify as chief of\npolice, assistant chief of police, or officer above the rank of captain shall be deemed\nto have received a leave o f absence from the classified service for and during his or\nher service in either of these respective positions. Should any chief of police,\nassistant chief of police, or officer above the rank of captain cease to serve in that\ncapacity, he or she shall be  restored to the same classification and rank which he or\nshe held prior to the appointment without loss of seniority in grade. Any person not\ncovered by the provisions of KRS 67C.303, 67C.305, 67C.307, and 67C.309 when\nappointed to the position of chief o f police, assistant chief of police, or officer\nabove the rank of captain shall not be deemed to be part of the classified service and\nshall not be placed in any classification or rank in the classified service when he or\nshe ceases to serve in that positi on unless he or she goes through the normal\nqualification and classification procedures required by the board.","path":["KRS Chapter 67C"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24033","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:29Z","sha256":"aeb18f5d065324a525e382dc240572c19aa815d8ee4a07cf861821c1f256829e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67c.313","next":"us-ky/krs-67c.317"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
