{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-67c.402","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 67C.402","heading":"Employees' right to organize for the purpose of collective bargaining --","body":"Mayor to represent consolidated local government.\n(1) Police officers of a consolidated local government shall have, and shall be protected\nin the exercise of, the right of self -organization, to form, join, or assist any labor\norganization, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing\non questions of wages, hours, and other conditions of employment free from\ninterference, restraint, or coercion.\n(2) Labor organizations designated by the cabinet as the representative of the majority\nof police officers in an appropriate unit or recognized by a consolidated local\ngovernment as the representative of the majority of employees in an appropriate unit\nshall be the exclusive representative for the employees of that unit for the purpose\nof collective bargaining with respect to rates of pay, wages, hours, and other\nconditions of employment.\n(3) Labor organizations recognized by a consolidated local government as the exclusive\nrepresentative or so designated in accordance with the provisions of this section\nshall be responsible for representing the interest of all police officers in the unit\nwithout discrimination.\n(4) When a labor organization has been designated in accordance with the provisions of\nthis section as the exclusive representative of police officers in an appropriate unit,\nthe mayor of a consolidated local government or his designated authorized\nrepresentative shall represent the consolidated local governmen t in collective\nbargaining with the labor organization.","path":["KRS Chapter 67C"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24041","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:29Z","sha256":"5a7639c0852d565446dfe240e08c2fc2ada4aa6a8614c8a8f515df57f41a9345","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-67c.400","next":"us-ky/krs-67c.404"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
