{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-68.125","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 68.125","heading":"County land and building fund.","body":"(1) The fiscal court of any county is hereby authorized and empowered to establish a\nfund to be designated and known as a land and building fund and to set aside in said\nfund and acquire therein from year to year funds for the purpose of acquiring lands\nand im proving same, and for the erection, maintaining, improving and\nreconstruction of necessary buildings and other improvements for the use of such\ncounty; such fund to be a permanent fund as herein provided.\n(2) The fiscal court of such county whenever it sh all so determine may use the moneys\nin such fund to acquire and purchase such lands as it may see fit, and in such\nmanner and at such places in said county as it may see fit, title thereto being taken\nin the name of such county, and may erect such improvements on said or other lands\nas said court may deem necessary and proper for the use of such county.\n(3) The fiscal court at the time of fixing the rate of the tax levies for said county may\nfix a tax levy to be part of and included in the general fund lev y, the amount\nrealized from such levy to be set aside for and become part of such building fund,\nbut in no event shall said fund become a part of the general revenue fund of the\ncounty under the provisions of KRS 68.120.\n(4) All moneys in said fund shall be kept as other county funds, but shall be invested\nunder the supervision of said fiscal court only in obligations of the United States\ngovernment.\n(5) Such fiscal court shall have the power upon the approval of the majority of the\nmembers thereof to rec eive any funds by gift or devise to be placed in and become\npart of such building fund upon such terms and conditions as such members shall\ndeem proper.\n(6) Nothing contained in this section shall be construed as affecting or limiting the right\nof any county to acquire lands or to improve lands, erect or maintain, or reconstruct\nbuildings as is otherwise authorized by law.","path":["KRS Chapter 68"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24065","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:30Z","sha256":"4eb797ddd125be6e0675d874abeb3b34454a2c44e95eb3537b2934140e3f35c9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-68.120","next":"us-ky/krs-68.127"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
