{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7.136","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7.136","heading":"Alterations permitted in maintaining official version of KRS.","body":"(1) The Commission, in maintaining the official version of the Kentucky Revised\nStatutes, shall not alter the sense, meaning, or effect of any act of the General\nAssembly, but may:\n(a) Renumber sections and parts of sections of the acts of the General Assembly;\n(b) Change the wording of headnotes;\n(c) Divide or rearrange sections and parts of sections;\n(d) Change words when directed by law;\n(e) Change reference numbers to agree with renumbered chapters or sections, or\nto make corrections in reference numbers wh en sections referred to are\nrepealed or amended and the correction can be made without change in the\nlaw;\n(f) Substitute the proper section or chapter numbers for the terms \"this act,\" \"the\npreceding section,\" and the like;\n(g) Change capitalization, spelling, and punctuation for the purpose of uniformity\nand consistency; and\n(h) Correct manifest clerical or typographical errors.\n(2) In maintaining the official version of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, the reviser of\nstatutes may substitute the name of any agency, officer, or instrumentality of the\nCommonwealth or of a political subdivision whose name is changed by law or to\nwhich powers, duties, and responsibilities have been transferred by law, for the\nname which the agency, officer, or instrumentality pre viously used or of the agency\nwhich was previously vested with the same powers and charged with the same\nduties and responsibilities.\n(3) If any section or part of a section of a statute or of any act of the General Assembly\nis amended by more than one (1)  act at the same session of the General Assembly,\nthe Commission may incorporate in the statute the section as amended or altered by\nthe several acts, if each of the amendments, changes, or alterations can be given\neffect and incorporated in the section in  a manner which will make the section\nintelligible. If a conflict appears between any section amended in an act to revise\nand amend the Kentucky Revised Statutes and the same section in any other act\nadopted at the same session of the General Assembly, the  change or alteration\neffected by the nonrevisory act shall be inserted in the section as incorporated in the\nstatute publication.","path":["KRS Chapter 7"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=474","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:26Z","sha256":"e2893a9ded784523d117fed2d83ddd080e62e378792aa23aefed6c62fd58da06","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7.134","next":"us-ky/krs-7.138"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
