{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7.320","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7.320","heading":"Powers and duties of the Commission.","body":"(1) The Legislative Research Commission or a subcommittee authorized by it shall\nstudy and examine expenditures of state agencies. To facilitate optimum\neffectiveness and economy in the performance of this function, the Legislative\nResearch Commission or a com mittee or subcommittee authorized by it, shall\nemploy electronic data processing equipment including computers and other\nnecessary support equipment capable of providing read only access to the desired\nexpenditure records.  The Commission may organize and adopt rules for the\nconduct of its business and do whatever else it considers necessary or advisable to\ncarry out the purposes of KRS 7.310 to 7.380.\n(2) The Commission may adopt rules and prescribe procedures for the conduct of its\naffairs.\n(3) The Commis sion or any member thereof or any employee duly authorized by the\nCommission or the co -chairmen thereof may administer oaths, issue subpoenas,\ncompel the attendance of witnesses and the production of papers, books, accounts,\ndocuments, and testimony, and have the deposition of witnesses taken in the manner\nprescribed by law for taking depositions in civil actions. If a person disobeys or\nrefuses to comply with a subpoena, or if a witness refuses to testify to a matter\nregarding which he may be lawfully interrogated, the Franklin Circuit Court may on\napplication of the Commission compel obedience by proceedings for contempt in\nthe same manner as in the case of disobedience of the requirements of a subpoena\nissued from the court or a refusal to testify in the court. Each witness who appears\nbefore the Commission by its order, other than an officer or employee of the state, is\nentitled to the fees and mileage provided for witnesses in civil cases in courts of\nrecord, which shall be audited and paid upon the pres entation of proper vouchers\nsworn to by such witnesses and approved by the co-chairmen of the Commission.","path":["KRS Chapter 7"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=482","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:26Z","sha256":"98734312e2e24fd1d4ee9df8e90c56bd9f4045c154f168c20474e3babe7774c0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7.310","next":"us-ky/krs-7.330"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
