{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7.505","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7.505","heading":"Web site to provide public access to expenditure records of legislative branch","body":"-- Monthly and weekly updates -- Commission is sole custodian of information\nand records -- Branches to share software and applications.\n(1) By January 1, 2012, the Legislati ve Research Commission shall provide public\naccess to records relating to expenditures of the legislative branch of state\ngovernment through display of the records on a Web site. The Web site shall\nprovide:\n(a) Financial information of expenditures not exempt under the provisions of state\nor federal law, including:\n1. The payee name;\n2. The category or type of the expenditure;\n3. A description of the reason for the expenditure, if available;\n4. The expenditure amount; and\n5. A link to the financial document , if the document is electronically\navailable;\n(b) A searchable format;\n(c) Access to the current enacted Legislative Branch Budget; and\n(d) A link to the public access Web site displays of the executive and judicial\nbranches of state government, and of th e public institutions of higher\neducation.\n(2) Information on the Web site shall be updated at least on a monthly basis. However,\ninformation on the Web site which is part of, or contained in, an electronic\naccounting system utilized by all branches of sta te government, such as the\nEnhanced Management Administrative Reporting System (EMARS), shall be\nupdated on a weekly basis.\n(3) The Commission shall maintain exclusive control and be considered the sole\ncustodian of all information and records generated by  and through activity of the\nlegislative branch of government, notwithstanding the situs of the information and\nrecords in another branch of government, and disclosure thereof shall only be by the\nCommission in accordance with applicable law.\n(4) In order to reduce Web site development costs and enhance public access and use of\nrecords viewed through Web sites as provided by this section and KRS 26A.260\nand 42.032, each branch of state government shall freely share with the other\nbranches of state government the software, software developments, and all\napplications, data, and information within its control used for Web site design,\nappearance, content, and operation in compliance with, or in furtherance of, the\npurposes contemplated by this section and KRS 26A.260 and 42.032.","path":["KRS Chapter 7"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39924","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:26Z","sha256":"ce38f6b88e57c56cbc200fc87a4439afd55a6adbc345bff11277e787cb85c156","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7.500","next":"us-ky/krs-7.510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
