{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7.550","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7.550","heading":"Role of Legislative Research Commission in development of population data","body":"for redistricting -- Computerized map -- Review of precinct establishment\norders and requests for exemption.\n(1) The Legislative Research Commission shall serve as the legislative  department's\nliaison with the United States Bureau of the Census for purposes of Kentucky's\nparticipation in and receipt of census maps and data under programs implementing\nUnited States Public Law 94-171, relating to the development of population data for\nredistricting.\n(2) The Legislative Research Commission shall maintain and continuously update a\ncomputerized map of Kentucky containing census geography and election precinct\nboundaries.\n(3) The Legislative Research Commission shall review any proposed p recinct\nestablishment order and request for an exemption made under KRS 117.0552 to\n117.0554 to determine the effect of the proposed order or exemption upon the\nCommonwealth's participation in programs to implement United States Public Law\n94-171. If the C ommission determines that the proposed order or exemption would\nhave an adverse effect upon the Commonwealth's ability to participate in the\nprograms, it shall so advise the State Board of Elections.\n(4) The Legislative Research Commission may direct its i nterim joint subcommittee of\nappropriate jurisdiction to perform or oversee the performance of the\nresponsibilities assigned to the Commission by this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 7"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=494","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:26Z","sha256":"60a893020c371d5f87b2080eb3753c93378b84b217079c81dee467cc78dcf2d8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7.520","next":"us-ky/krs-7.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
