{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-70.280","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 70.280","heading":"Court security officers -- Duties -- Prohibited conduct.","body":"(1) A certified court security officer shall be charged with the following duties:\n(a) Attending sessions of any court of the Court of Justice in the county in which\nhe or she is sworn;\n(b) Keeping order in the courts;\n(c) Providing security services to the courts within the court facility or immediate\narea of the court facility;\n(d) Guarding prisoners during court appearances;\n(e) Serving warrants and other court papers on individuals physically present in\nthe courtroom;\n(f) Transporting prisoners;\n(g) Arresting and taking individuals into custody who are in the court facility or\nimmediate area of the court facility, or while transporting prisoners; and\n(h) Service of process and other papers relating to civil matters on individuals\nphysically present in the courtroom.\n(2) A certified court security officer shall not:\n(a) Go outside the immediate area of the court facility in which he or she is\nproviding security services to make an arrest or take an individual into\ncustody, except when transporting prisoners;\n(b) Patrol the roads, streets, or highways;\n(c) Issue traffic citations, except to enforce parking regulations around the court\nfacility; or\n(d) Perform general law enforcement duties outside that of providing court\nsecurity.","path":["KRS Chapter 70"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24224","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:32Z","sha256":"c687707b7d1572b5b3eb38be2d74501e12f48a0ee847924dcb6bc15fe6b0c45c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-70.273","next":"us-ky/krs-70.282"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
