{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-70.284","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 70.284","heading":"Failure or refusal of sheriff to provide court security services -- Contracts","body":"with units of local government.\n(1) In any county, if the sheriff fails or refuses to provide certified peace officers or\ncertified security officers for the provision of sec urity services to any court of the\nCourt of Justice, then the Administrative Office of the Courts shall contract with a\ncounty, urban -county, charter county, consolidated local government, combined\nlocal government agency, or an agency of a city government  to provide security\nservices to any court of the Court of Justice in the county where the sheriff has\nfailed or refused to provide such services.\n(2) Security personnel provided by a local government under contract to the\nAdministrative Office of the Cour ts shall be certified peace officers, certified court\nsecurity officers, or a combination thereof.\n(3) A court security officer provided by a unit of local government shall:\n(a) Meet all of the qualifications and training specified in KRS 15.380 to 15.404;\nand\n(b) Have the same power, duties, restrictions, and authority as a certified court\nsecurity officer pursuant to KRS Chapter 70 and KRS 15.442 and 527.020.","path":["KRS Chapter 70"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24226","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:32Z","sha256":"b98c15851d94dfa857bc2cb7e9c4eba1a9fc1ffa74b6c3730b2d8253ebf67a97","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-70.282","next":"us-ky/krs-70.290"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
