{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-70.294","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 70.294","heading":"Employment contract for law enforcement telecommunicator.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"law enforcement agency\" means a city, county,\nconsolidated local government, urban -county government, charter county\ngovernment, unified local government, or state law enforcement agency, and\nincludes a sheriff's office.\n(2) (a) Law enforcement agencies may, as a condition of employment, require a\nnewly appointed law enforcement telecommunicator to enter into an\nemployment contract for a period of no longer than three (3) years from the\ndate of graduation from the Department of Cri minal Justice Training, or other\ntraining approved by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.\n(b) If a law enforcement telecommunicator who has entered into a contract\nauthorized under this section begins employment as a law enforcement\ntelecommunicator with another law enforcement agency during the contractual\nperiod, that law enforcement agency or the law enforcement telecommunicator\nshall reimburse the law enforcement agency that initially hired the law\nenforcement telecommunicator for the actual costs inc urred and expended\nwhich are associated with the initial hiring of that telecommunicator,\nincluding but not limited to the application process, training costs, equipment\ncosts, and salary. The law enforcement agency that initially hired the law\nenforcement telecommunicator shall be reimbursed for the costs from the time\nof the law enforcement telecommunicator's initial application until graduation\nfrom the Department of Criminal Justice Training, or other training approved\nby the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.\n(c) The amount of reimbursement authorized by paragraph (b) of this subsection\nshall be prorated based upon the percentage of time that the law enforcement\ntelecommunicator completed his or her employment contract.","path":["KRS Chapter 70"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43388","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:32Z","sha256":"2a10bb6d8662846bf6fcb46fe8827235a7bbbd2eb6b025ee7caa44c68302a7e8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-70.293","next":"us-ky/krs-70.310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
