{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-72.465","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 72.465","heading":"Inquiry into death under natural circumstances -- Death certificate --","body":"Change in original certificate.\n(1) The coroner shall in his sound discretion determine the extent of inquiry to be made\ninto any death occurring under natural circumstances and f alling within the\nprovisions of KRS 72.410 to 72.470, and if inquiry reveals that the physician or\nadvanced practice registered nurse of record has sufficient knowledge to reasonably\nstate the cause of a death occurring under natural circumstances, the cor oner may\nauthorize that physician or advanced practice registered nurse to sign the certificate\nof death. In all other instances, the coroner shall sign the death certificate in\ncoroner's cases.\n(2) In the event an autopsy is performed under the provisions  of KRS 72.410 to 72.470\nsubsequent to the time that a death certificate has been filed with the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services, Vital Statistics Branch, the coroner shall notify the\nVital Statistics Branch of any change that may be necessary in th e original\ncertificate.","path":["KRS Chapter 72"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45202","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:33Z","sha256":"bd01b4e20d944ddf43602866363d430f0715751f2c4b326de9ea7dcdf1a12345","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-72.460","next":"us-ky/krs-72.470"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
