{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-74.480","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 74.480","heading":"Exclusive water supply -- Basis for establishing rate, charges.","body":"(1) When a commission has been created, the cities, water associations, water districts,\nor federal agencies represented by the commission shall contract with the\ncommission for water and the contracts may provide that the sources of supply of\nwater of the commission shall be the exclusive water supply for the respective water\ndistribution systems. These cities, water associations, or water districts shall\nestablish charges and rates for water supplied by them to consumers sufficient at all\ntimes:\n(a) To pay the principal of and interest on all outstanding obligations of the cities,\nwater associations, or water districts which by their terms are payable in any\nmanner from the revenues of their respective waterworks distribution systems;\nand\n(b) To pay the cost o f operation and maintenance of their respective waterworks\ndistribution systems, including the payments to be made to the commission\npursuant to contracts for the purchase of water by those cities, water\nassociations, or water districts.\n(2) The commission shall establish charges and rates for water supplied to those cities,\nwater associations, water districts, or federal agencies represented by the\ncommission sufficient at all times:\n(a) To pay the principal of and interest on the revenue bonds issued by t he\ncommission under the provisions of KRS 74.420 to 74.520;\n(b) To pay the cost of operation and maintenance of the sources of supply of\nwater; and\n(c) To provide an adequate fund for renewals, replacements, and reserves.\nContracts entered into between the commission and the cities, water associations, or\nwater districts shall include covenants for the establishment of rates and charges as\nprovided in this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 74"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24427","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:34Z","sha256":"b2be7f9cdeb46d03c8d029cf233cb5ff83aa9d9f4576fc6d0e3c7153d8cc2e50","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-74.470","next":"us-ky/krs-74.490"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
