{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-75.400","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 75.400","heading":"Definitions for KRS 75.400 to 75.460.","body":"As used in KRS 75.400 to 75.460, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Commission\" means the Kentucky Fire Commission, attached to the Kentucky\nCommunity and Technical College System.\n(2) \"Fire department\" includes all of the officers, firefighters, and clerical and\nmaintenance employees, whether paid or volunteer.\n(3) \"Full-time paid firefighter\" means an individual who receives a minimum salary of\neight thousand dollars ($8,000) annually, and who works a minimum of two\nthousand and eighty (2,080) ho urs per year as an employee of a fire department\nrecognized by the commission.\n(4) \"Paid fire department\" means a fire department recognized by the commission, of\nwhich at least fifty percent (50%) of its firefighters are full-time paid firefighters.\n(5) \"Volunteer fire department\" means a fire department with a minimum of twelve\n(12) members and a chief, at least one (1) operational fire apparatus or one (1) on\norder, with fewer than fifty percent (50%) of its firefighters being full -time paid\nfirefighters.","path":["KRS Chapter 75"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50253","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:35Z","sha256":"008ec720e2790339e3c1ea5bc095edc160c9592e87c1a26615c69536d442b293","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-75.270","next":"us-ky/krs-75.410"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
