{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7a.180","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7A.180","heading":"Definitions for KRS 7A.180 to 7A.190.","body":"As used in KRS 7A.180 to 7A.190:\n(1) \"Application\" means software components resting on infrastructure that may be\nused to create, use, store, or share data and information to enable support of a\nbusiness function;\n(2) \"Committee\" means the Information Technology Oversight Committee;\n(3) \"Cybersecurity system\" means an information technology system or application\nused to protect against the criminal or unauthorized use of electronic data held by a\nstate agency;\n(4) \"Information technology system\" means any related computer or\ntelecommunication components that provide a functional system for a specific\nbusiness purpose and contain one (1) or more of the following:\n(a) Hardware;\n(b) Software, including application software, systems management software,\nutility software, or communications software;\n(c) Professional services for requirements analysis, system integration,\ninstallation, implementation, or data conversion services; or\n(d) Digital data products, including acquisition and quality control;\n(5) \"Legacy system\" means an information technology system or application that:\n(a) Is no longer supported by a vendor;\n(b) Is written in a programming language people no longer learn;\n(c) Does not comply with state or federal regulations;\n(d) Is incompatible with advanced technology;\n(e) Is inefficient or no longer meets the needs for the state agency's workforce; or\n(f) Includes applications developed by a state agency which were written decades\nago and for which the state agency does not have the expertise t o support or\nmaintain; and\n(6) \"State agency\" means any department, commission, council, board, bureau,\ncommittee, institution, legislative body, agency, government corporation, or other\nentity of the executive, judicial, or legislative branch of state government.","path":["KRS Chapter 7A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55885","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:27Z","sha256":"7389499b9eea65237627259e7393151896e83f0c5727207526da99afc3873207","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7a.170","next":"us-ky/krs-7a.185"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
