{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7b.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7B.030","heading":"Board -- Membership -- Terms -- Removal -- Vacancies -- Vote required to","body":"act.\n(1) The board of the Kentucky Long -Term Policy Research Center shall consist of\ntwenty-one (21) members, including ten (10) members selected from state\ngovernment and el even (11) at -large members selected from the private and civic\nsectors, universities, and local governments.\n(a) State government members shall be appointed as follows:\n1. Two (2) members of the House of Representatives shall be appointed by\nthe Speaker of the House of Representatives and one (1) member of the\nminority party in the House of Representatives shall be appointed by the\nMinority Floor Leader in the House of Representatives. Two (2)\nmembers of the Senate shall be appointed by the President of the  Senate\nand one (1) member of the minority party in the Senate shall be\nappointed by the Minority Floor Leader in the Senate; and\n2. Four (4) members from the executive branch shall be appointed by the\nGovernor.\n(b) At-large members shall be appointed as follows:\n1. Five (5) members shall be appointed by the Legislative Research\nCommission; and\n2. Six (6) members shall be appointed by the Governor and confirmed by\nthe House of Representatives and the Senate;\n3. Persons appointed may serve prior to confirmat ion, but shall continue to\nserve only if confirmed at the next regular session, or special session if\nthe matter is included in the call therefor of the General Assembly;\n4. The provisions of KRS 11.160 shall apply to Senate and House of\nRepresentatives confirmation of at -large members appointed by the\nGovernor.\n(2) Board members shall serve four (4) year terms, except initial appointments shall be\nfor terms as follows:\n(a) The Legislative Research Commission shall initially appoint two (2)\nlegislators for terms of two (2) years, two (2) legislators for terms of three (3)\nyears and two (2) legislators for terms of four (4) years; and shall initially\nappoint one (1) at -large mem ber for a two (2) year term, two (2) at -large\nmembers for three (3) year terms, and two (2) at -large members for four (4)\nyear terms.\n(b) The Governor shall initially appoint two (2) members from the executive\nbranch for terms of two (2) years, one (1) for  a three (3) year term, and one\n(1) for a four (4) year term, and shall initially appoint two (2) at -large\nmembers for terms of two (2) years, two (2) for three (3) year terms, and two\n(2) for four (4) year terms.\n(3) Members of the board shall meet the sa me age and state residency requirements as\nprovided in Section 32 of the Kentucky Constitution for members of the House of\nRepresentatives, shall represent the cultural diversity of Kentucky, and shall have\ndemonstrated an interest in the well-being and development of the Commonwealth.\n(4) The chair shall be elected annually by the board and shall alternate between the\nmembers selected from state government and the at -large members. If the chair is a\nmember selected from state government, the vice chair shall be an at-large member,\nand if the chair is an at -large member, the vice chair shall be a member selected\nfrom state government.\n(5) Board members who miss three (3) consecutive meetings may be removed from the\nboard by a majority vote of the board at any regularly scheduled meeting in which a\nquorum is present. The position shall then be declared vacant and shall be filled in\nthe same manner as it was originally appointed.\n(6) If vacancies are not filled by the original appointing authority within thirty  (30)\ndays of the occurrence of the vacancy, the board may fill the vacancy.\n(7) A majority of the entire membership of the board shall constitute a quorum, and all\nactions of the board shall be by vote of a majority of its entire membership.","path":["KRS Chapter 7B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=507","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:27Z","sha256":"e7fcf4a3b98dba58b15a69f23f4b106ad21d515f709e2177729d32ab88cc69ae","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7b.020","next":"us-ky/krs-7b.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
