{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-7b.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 7B.060","heading":"Purpose of center -- Statewide scanning program -- Biennial trends report -","body":"- Other duties.\n(1) The purpose of the Kentucky Long -Term Policy Research Center is to serve as a\ncatalyst to change the way decisions are made in government by providing\ndecision-makers a broader context in which to make decisions, taking into\nconsideration the long -term implications of policy, critical trends, and emerging\nissues which may have a significant impact on the state.\n(2) At the direction of the board, the center shall:\n(a) Establish a statewide scanning program to review information sources and\nidentify emerging issues for the Commonwealth, and regularly provide the\nprogram's findings to the legislative and executive branches;\n(b) 1. Prepare biennially a report on trends in the Commonwealth and the\nlong-term implications of those trends;\n2. As part of the report, sponsor a public forum to review the findings of\nthe trends report and obtain reactions from executive branch agencies,\nlegislative committees, private sector representatives, and the public;\n3. Include in the report a record of the trends, long -term implications, and\nreactions, to be completed by December 31 of even -numbered years and\npresented to the General Assembly, to the Governor, and to the public;\nand\n4. The biennial trends report shall be given affirmative consideration by\nthe agencies and branches of state government when those agencies and\nbranches are determining budget priorities;\n(c) Identify long -term issues significant to the Commonwealth by using a\nmethodology involving a broad spectrum of citizens and establish annual\nwork plans focusing on the priority issues approved by the board. Studies\nshall include the potential long -term effects of current trends and policies and\nshall identify future policy options;\n(d) Periodically prepare a report on alternative futures facing the Commonwealth\nfor a five (5) or ten (10) year period, or for a period deemed appropriate by\nthe board;\n(e) Advise the General Assembly and the Governor of potential long -term effects\nof government policies;\n(f) Develop an information process to inform the public continually on long -term\nissues, critical trends, and alternative futures;\n(g) Develop a database for trend identification.","path":["KRS Chapter 7B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=510","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:27Z","sha256":"08140642cc32a501e0c2b1a28f20cc341c1394d87514ac74dbf61520df9081bb","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-7b.050","next":"us-ky/krs-7b.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
