{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-80.270","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 80.270","heading":"Public body may aid housing authority -- Declaration of policy.","body":"It is hereby declared that there exist in Kentucky unsafe and unsanitary housing\nconditions and a shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations for persons of\nlow income; that these conditions necessitate excessive and disproportionate expenditures\nof public funds for crime prevention and punishment, public health and safety, fire and\naccident protection, and other public services and facilities; and that the public interest\nrequires the remedying of these conditions. It is further declared that the  assistance\nprovided in KRS 80.280 to 80.300 for the remedying of such conditions constitutes a\npublic use and purpose and an essential governmental function for which public money\nmay be spent and other aid given; that it is a proper public purpose for an y public body to\naid any housing authority located or operating within its boundaries or jurisdiction, as the\npublic body derives immediate benefits and advantages from such a housing authority or\ndevelopments; and that the provisions of KRS 80.280 to 80.3 00 are necessary in the\npublic interest.","path":["KRS Chapter 80"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24842","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:40Z","sha256":"5b95bc73fe55b325e3487a8422eddaab4dd7786346443846fb3f8798fa273920","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-80.266","next":"us-ky/krs-80.280"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
