{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-80.290","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 80.290","heading":"Manners in which public body may aid authority.","body":"(1) For the purpose of aiding and cooperating in the planning, undertaking, construction\nor operation of housing projects located within the area in which it is authorized to\nact, any public body may, upon such terms, with or without consideration, as it may\ndetermine:\n(a) Dedicate, sell, convey or lease any of its interest in any property, or grant\neasements, licenses or any other rights or privileges therein to a housing\nauthority or the federal government;\n(b) Cause parks, playgrounds, recreational, commun ity, educational, water, sewer\nor drainage facilities, or any other works which it is otherwise empowered to\nundertake, to be furnished adjacent to or in connection with housing projects;\n(c) Furnish, dedicate, close, pave, install, grade, regrade, plan o r replan public\nways or other places which it is otherwise empowered to undertake;\n(d) Plan or replan, zone or rezone any part of the public body; make exceptions\nfrom building regulations and ordinances; any city also may change its map;\n(e) Cause services to be furnished to the housing authority of the character which\nthe public body is otherwise empowered to furnish;\n(f) Enter into agreements with respect to the exercise by such public body of its\npowers relating to the repair, closing or demolition o f unsafe, unsanitary or\nunfit dwellings;\n(g) Employ any funds belonging to or within the control of such public body,\nincluding funds derived from the sale or furnishing of property or facilities to\na housing authority, in the purchase of the bonds or oth er obligations of a\nhousing authority; and exercise all the rights of any holder of such bonds or\nother obligations;\n(h) Do any and all things necessary or convenient to aid and cooperate in the\nplanning, undertaking, construction or operation of housing;\n(i) Incur the entire expense of any public improvements made by such public\nbody in exercising the powers granted in this section; and\n(j) Enter into agreements, which may extend over any period, with a housing\nauthority respecting action to be taken by  such public body pursuant to any of\nthe powers granted by this section.\n(2) Any sale, conveyance, lease or agreement provided for in this section may be made\nby a public body without appraisal, public notice, advertisement or public bidding.\n(3) With respect to any housing which a housing authority has acquired or taken over\nfrom the federal government and which the housing authority by resolution has\nfound and declared to have been constructed in a manner that will promote the\npublic interest and afford necessary safety, sanitation and other protection, no public\nbody shall require any changes to be made in the housing project or the manner of\nits construction or take any other action relating to the construction.","path":["KRS Chapter 80"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24844","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:40Z","sha256":"2681f503206cc6d9897f863fc60639b660e6d8ca99f3a0fc029782dcb5562cb5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-80.280","next":"us-ky/krs-80.300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
