{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-80.480","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 80.480","heading":"Removal of members -- Effect of compact -- Membership upon","body":"establishment of consolidated local government.\n(1) For inefficiency or neglect of duty or misconduct in office, a member may be\nremoved by the authority appointing him, but a member shall be r emoved only after\nhe or she has been given a copy of the charges against him or her at least ten (10)\ndays prior to the hearing and has had an opportunity to be heard in person or by\ncounsel. In the event of the removal of any member, a record of the proce edings,\ntogether with the charges and findings, shall be filed as required for the certificate\nof appointment of the member.\n(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section, when a city of the first class and a\ncounty containing such city have in effect  a compact under KRS 79.310 to 79.330,\nthe terms of the members of the authority shall be for three (3) years and until their\nsuccessors are appointed and qualified. Upon the effective date of the compact, the\ncounty judge/executive with the approval of the fiscal court shall adjust the terms of\nthe sitting members so that two (2) shall expire in one (1) year, two (2) shall expire\nin two (2) years, and one (1) shall expire in three (3) years. Upon expiration of these\nstaggered terms, successors shall be app ointed for a term of three (3) years. Upon\nthe establishment of a consolidated local government in a county where a city of the\nfirst class and a county containing such city have had in effect a cooperative\ncompact pursuant to KRS 79.310 to 79.330, all mem bers of the authority shall be\nappointed by the mayor of the consolidated local government pursuant to the\nprovisions of KRS 67C.139 for a term of three (3) years.
