{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-80.490","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 80.490","heading":"Consolidated housing authority for two or more cities.","body":"(1) If the governing body of each of two (2) or more cities (whether or not contiguous)\nby resolution declares that there is a need for one (1) housing authority to be created\nfor all of such cities to exercise in such cities the powers and other functions\nprescribed for a consolidated housing authority, a public body corporate and politic\nto be known as a \"consolidated housing authority\" (with such corporate name as it\nselects) shall thereupon exist for all of such cities and exercise its powers and other\nfunctions within its area of operation (as herein defined), including the power to\nundertake projects therein.\n(2) The creation of a consolidated housing authority and the finding of need therefor\nshall be subject to the same provisions and limitations of KRS  80.320 to 80.610 as\nare applicable to the creation of a regional housing authority, and all of the\nprovisions of KRS 80.310 to 80.610 applicable to regional housing authorities and\nthe members thereof shall be applicable to consolidated housing authoritie s and the\nmembers thereof.\n(3) The area of operation of a consolidated housing authority shall include all of the\nterritory within the boundaries of each city joining in the creation of such authority,\nexcept that such area of operation may be changed to include or exclude any city or\ncities in the same manner and under the same provisions as provided in KRS 80.320\nto 80.610 for changing the area of operation of a regional housing authority by\nincluding or excluding a county or counties.\n(4) If the area of operation of a consolidated housing authority is decreased to only one\n(1) city, such authority shall thereupon constitute and become a housing authority\nfor such city, in the same manner as though such authority were thereupon created\npursuant to KRS 80.010 to 80.250; and for all such purposes the term \"county\" shall\nbe construed as meaning \"city,\" the terms \"county housing authority\" and \"regional\nhousing authority\" shall be construed as meaning \"housing authority of the city\" and\n\"consolidated housing authority,\" respectively, and the term \"governing body\" as\nused in KRS 80.420, 80.430 and 80.440 shall be construed as meaning \"mayor,\"\nunless a different meaning clearly appears from the context.","path":["KRS Chapter 80"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=24864","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:40Z","sha256":"95c2826a5e317324da6cbde500c30d838626fd126abe989692424e868d6d8565","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-80.480","next":"us-ky/krs-80.500"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
