{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-81a.410","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 81A.410","heading":"Area subject to annexation -- Exception upon adoption of consolidated","body":"local government.\n(1) Except as provided in KRS 67C.111(3), a city legislative body may extend the city's\nboundaries to include any area:\n(a) Which is adjacent or contiguou s to the city's boundaries at the time the\nannexation proceeding is begun; and\n(b) Which by reason of population density, commercial, industrial, institutional,\nor governmental use of land, or subdivision of land, is urban in character or\nsuitable for development for urban purposes without unreasonable delay.\n(2) No part of the area to be annexed shall be included within the boundary of another\nincorporated city.\n(3) If a city is considering the annexation of two (2) or more areas which are all\nadjacent to the city boundary but are not adjacent to one another, it may undertake\nsimultaneous proceedings under the authority of KRS 81A.420 for the annexation\nof such areas.\n(4) If a city is wholly contained within two (2) counties and that city intends to annex\nterritory in an additional county, then the provisions of KRS 81A.415 shall apply.","path":["KRS Chapter 81A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51323","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:42Z","sha256":"12bb9c6dca50ef3f7377d5978ffd9f17c204ee9e3f3c29d36bfe9310741677e9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-81a.400","next":"us-ky/krs-81a.412"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
