{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-81a.470","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 81A.470","heading":"Map and certified copy of ordinance that changed city's boundaries to be","body":"recorded -- Preparation of map and description -- Taxation of residents or\nproperty in new territory by annexing city prohibited prior to compliance.\n(1) Within sixty (6 0) days of the enlargement or reduction of a city's boundaries, the\ncity shall cause to be recorded in the office of the Secretary of State:\n(a) A duly certified paper or electronic copy of the final ordinance that changed\nthe city's boundaries;\n(b) A map and a description prepared by a professional land surveyor depicting\nthe parcel annexed, transferred, or severed as a closed geometric figure on a\nplat annotated with bearings and distances or sufficient curve data to describe\neach line. The professional l and surveyor shall clearly state on the documents\nthe location of the existing municipal boundary, any physical feature with\nwhich the proposed municipal boundary coincides, and a statement of the\nrecorded deeds, plats, right -of-way plans, or other resourc es used to develop\nthe documents depicting the municipal boundary, in paper or electronic form;\nand\n(c) An electronic file containing a closed geometric figure depicting the territory\nbeing added or removed that is referenced to a Kentucky State Plane\nCoordinate System zone in any one (1) of the following formats:\n1. AutoDesk AutoCAD DWG or DXF;\n2. Bentley MicroStation DGN; or\n3. ESRI ArcGIS Shapefile.\nIf the electronic file is attached to an e-mail communication, the e-mail and all\nfiles attached to that e-mail communication cumulatively shall not exceed\nfifteen (15) megabytes in size.\n(2) No city which has annexed unincorporated or accepted transfer of incorporated\nterritory may levy any tax upon the residents or property within the annexed or\ntransferred area until the city has complied with the provisions of subsection (1) of\nthis section, and of KRS 81A.475.","path":["KRS Chapter 81A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50991","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:42Z","sha256":"972ac0242b77e96cf9c208f5d687f60096311a9c5d78119d1baf8d17e35a515a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-81a.460","next":"us-ky/krs-81a.475"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
