{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-83a.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 83A.030","heading":"Composition and size of city legislative bodies for mayor -council,","body":"commission, and city manager plans -- Ordinance requirements.\n(1) Each city organized and governed under the mayor -council plan shall have a mayor\nand each shall have a legisl ative body composed of not less than six (6) nor more\nthan twelve (12) members as prescribed by ordinance. An ordinance amending the\nnumber of legislative body members shall be:\n(a) Enacted and filed with the county clerk of any county or counties in which the\ncity is located by no later than the first Wednesday after the first Monday in\nNovember of the year preceding the year in which the legislative offices will\nappear on the ballot; and\n(b) Crafted in such a manner that the amended number of legislative body\nmembers becomes effective on January 1 of the year following the election of\nthe number of legislative body members specified in the amending ordinance.\n(2) Each city organized and governed under the commission plan or city manager plan\nshall have a legislative body composed of a mayor and four (4) commissioners.","path":["KRS Chapter 83A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53989","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:44Z","sha256":"45cc850f023ba8fb06f1c80accf601015ac4974593ec1a66fc9324f0d803f2c7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-83a.024","next":"us-ky/krs-83a.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
