{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-83a.070","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 83A.070","heading":"Compensation of elected officers, appointed officials, and employees.","body":"(1) The legislative body of each city shall by ordinance fix the compensation of every\nelected city officer not later than the first Monday in May in the year the officer is\nelected. An elected officer's compensation shall not be changed after his election or\nduring his term of office.\n(2) The legislative body of each city shall fix the compensation of city employees and\nnonelected city officers in accordance with a personnel and pay classification plan\nwhich shall be adopted by ordinance.\n(3) All fees and comm issions authorized by law shall be paid into the city treasury for\nthe benefit of the city and shall not be retained by any officer or employee.\n(4) The legislative body of each city may, by ordinance, establish the compensation for\nany elective city office on a salaried or per diem basis.","path":["KRS Chapter 83A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=25172","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:44Z","sha256":"6330e57969122cbff94a4f625d3479d18d74949ae18ad566cae68493fcf123f7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-83a.065","next":"us-ky/krs-83a.075"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
