{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-83a.075","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 83A.075","heading":"Equating of compensation rate of mayors and members of city legislative","body":"bodies with purchasing power of dollar -- Limitation.\n(1) In order to equate the compensation of mayors and members of city legislative\nbodies with the purchasing power of the dol lar, the Department for Local\nGovernment shall compute by the second Friday in February of every year the\nannual increase or decrease in the consumer price index of the preceding year by\nusing 1949 as the base year in accordance with Section 246 of the Con stitution of\nKentucky which provides that the mayor in cities of the first class shall be paid at a\nrate no greater than twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) per annum and mayors in\ncities other than the first class and legislative body members shall be paid at a rate\nno greater than seven thousand two hundred dollars ($7,200) per annum.\n(2) The legislative body of the city shall set the compensation of the officer in\naccordance with KRS 83A.070 at a rate no greater than that stipulated by the\nDepartment for Local Government.","path":["KRS Chapter 83A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=25173","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:44Z","sha256":"17b7eaaa3f0c676a606cdabc75f03c8f04e855f62daf7fab33953455b677cb49","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-83a.070","next":"us-ky/krs-83a.080"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
