{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-90.150","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 90.150","heading":"Offices, positions, and places of employment included in classified service.","body":"(1) The classified service covered by KRS 90.110 to 90.230, and hereby placed under\nthe jurisdiction of the board, includes all offices, positions, and places of\nemployment, except as herein provided, in the following departments and agencies\nin the service of the city, to wit: the department of public safety, the department of\npublic health, the department of public welfare, and the civil service board. If any of\nsuch offices, positions or places of employment are transferred to or combined or\nconsolidated with any other department or agency of or serving the city, the offices,\npositions or places of employment shall continue to be covered by KRS 90.110 to\n90.230. The classified service also includes all other offices and positions and\nplaces of employment in other departments or agencies of the city or serving the city\nto which the classified service may be hereafter extended pursuant to the provisions\nof KRS 90.210, or any other law.\n(2) The following offices, positions, and places of employment, in the d epartments and\nagencies hereinabove specifically named, are excluded from the classified service,\nto wit:\n(a) The director of safety and the following positions in that department, to wit:\nthe director of safety's staff, including, but not limited to assis tants and his\nprivate secretary, the chief of police and his private secretary, assistant chief\nof police, chief of detectives, chaplain for the police department, chief of\nfirefighters and his private secretary, assistant chief of firefighters, chaplain\nfor the fire department; superintendent and animal catchers, and caretakers, in\nthe division of city pound; supervising inspector of weights and measures, and\ninspector of weights and measures, and deputy inspector, in the division of\nweights and measures.\n(b) The director of health and the following positions in that department, to wit:\nprivate secretary, kitchen helpers, cleaners, waitresses, housemaids,\njanitresses, laundresses, hospital resident medical staff, university visiting\nstaff, student nurses, bona fide university students.\n(c) The director of welfare and the following positions in that department, to wit:\nprivate secretary, janitors, cleaners, laundresses, night watchman, truck\ndrivers, kitchen helpers, janitresses, park laborers, bona fide univ ersity\nstudents.\n(d) Members of the civil service board and the personnel director.\n(3) The offices, positions, and places of employment excluded by paragraphs (a), (b),\n(c) and (d) of subsection (2) from the classified service may be placed in the\nclassified service, in accordance with the provisions of KRS 90.210, except that the\noffices or positions of director of safety including his staff, chief of police and his\nprivate secretary, assistant chief of police, chief of detectives, chaplain for the\npolice department, chief of firefighters and his private secretary, assistant chief of\nfirefighters, chaplain for the fire department, director of health, director of welfare,\nand members of the civil service board shall not be placed in the classified service.\n(4) Any classified employee in the department of safety, who accepts an appointment\nand qualifies as chief of police or his private secretary, assistant chief of police,\nchief of detectives, chaplain for the police department, chief of firefighters or his\nprivate secretary, assistant chief of firefighters, or chaplain for the fire department,\nshall be deemed to have received a leave of absence from the classified service for\nand during the incumbency of any of those respective positions.
