{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-95.830","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 95.830","heading":"Use of fire apparatus outside city limits, cities of all classes.","body":"(1) Any city in the state owning or controlling fire apparatus may take it to extinguish\nfires to any point in the county in which that city is located, into a smaller territory\nin that county, or into areas of another county or state, as determined by the cit y\nlegislative body. The apparatus shall be so used only in conformity with reasonable\nterms and regulations which the city legislative body may prescribe.\n(2) The city shall not be liable in any manner on account of the use of the apparatus at\nany point outside of the corporate limits of the city. The apparatus shall be deemed\nto be employed in the exercise of a governmental function of the city.\n(3) All city or fire protection district firefighters, full-paid or volunteer, serving at a fire\nor doing fire p revention work outside the corporate limits of a city or a fire\nprotection district shall be considered as serving in their regular line of duty, as\nthough they were serving within the corporate limits.\n(4) Full-paid firefighters shall receive no additiona l compensation, and volunteer\nfiremen shall receive only the compensation provided by ordinance for such cases.\n(5) All full -paid firefighters and volunteer firemen are entitled to the benefits of any\nfirefighters' pension fund or volunteer firemen's fund,  the same as if the firefighting\nor fire prevention work had been within the corporate limits of the city or the fire\nprotection district.","path":["KRS Chapter 95"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=26071","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:55Z","sha256":"20c8f50ef2d499da0170dfc5aa65352f928dca0ba2c42fe7367efb49094b943c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-95.820","next":"us-ky/krs-95.840"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
