{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-95.845","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 95.845","heading":"Custodian of property taken by peace officers or courts -- Property clerks --","body":"Disposition.\n(1) The executive authority of any city which maintains a police department may\ndesignate the chief of police as custodian of all property which comes within the\npurview of KRS 67.592 which is taken by peace officers or courts within the city.\n(2) The legislative body of any city may authorize the employment of a property clerk\nand deputy property clerks, as necessary, subject to the same conditions as in KRS\n67.592 and 67.594. The property clerk and deputy property clerks shall be appointed\nby the executive authority of the city.\n(3) Custody and disposition of all property in custody of the property clerk shall be\ngoverned by the provisions of KRS 67.592 and 67.594 except that:\n(a) The legislative body of the city may prescribe the duties of the property clerk\nand deputy property clerks and require security for the faithful performance of\nthe duties imposed by KRS 67.594; and\n(b) The proceeds of all property subjec t to the provisions of subsection (4) of\nKRS 67.594 which is sold as provided in that section shall be credited to the\npolice department.\n(4) All other provisions of KRS 67.592 and 67.594 shall apply to the city and to the\nproperty clerk and deputies in the same manner as they do to the county.","path":["KRS Chapter 95"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=26073","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:55Z","sha256":"2af38f54a6326b1061bd9a33c48db49f259f202992054d8ce702d02ad8dd5794","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-95.840","next":"us-ky/krs-95.850"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
