{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-96.355","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 96.355","heading":"Legislative body of city of the home rule class may provide city with","body":"waterworks system -- Police protection for waterworks system located outside\ncity limits.\n(1) The legislative body of any city of the home rule class may by ordinance:\n(a) Provide the city with water; establish, regulate and control public cisterns,\nhydrants and reservoirs, together with extensions and appurtenances thereto,\nwithin or without the limits of the city, for fire protection and the use and\nconvenience of its inhabitants;\n(b) Provide for the enforcement of said regulations for the health, welfare and\nwell-being of its inhabitants.\n(2) Whenever cisterns, hydrants, reservoirs or any other portion of a waterworks system\nowned by any city set forth in subsection (1) of this section is located in whole or in\npart outside the city limits of any such city, the city may provide police protection as\nis necessary to prevent damage to or destruction of such property and to safeguard\nthe water supply of the city from possible contamination.","path":["KRS Chapter 96"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43753","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:58Z","sha256":"98551d244808108a526e027d53854a5bf32f0ca39f39aeeea5fc3e6289f6f0a0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-96.351","next":"us-ky/krs-96.360"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
