{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-96a.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 96A.090","heading":"Authority's capacity to accept appropriations, grants.","body":"(1) No transit authority established or created under and pursuant to this chapter shall\nbe vested with any power to levy taxes of any nature or in any amount.\n(2) The governing body of any public body participating in the creation and\nestablishment of an authority, or in the subsequent enlargement thereof, may, in the\nproceedings or joint proceedings, or by subsequent action, appropriate and pay over\nto an authority from its general funds or from other resources not required by law to\nbe appropriated for othe r purposes, any sum or sums of money, or any property\nwhich such public body shall determine to be necessary or advisable in furtherance\nof the public purposes of the authority as set forth in this chapter. An authority may\nreceive moneys or property from any such source, and may use the same in\nfurtherance of its proper purposes; but an authority shall not pledge anticipated\nappropriations from any such source for any period beyond the period for which any\nsuch appropriations shall be made, except to the e xtent of committing that any such\nappropriation, when and if actually received by the authority, without commitment\nas to the possible amount thereof, will be applied by the authority in certain\nspecified ways.\n(3) An authority may accept gifts, grants, o r loans of money or other property from the\nUnited States, the state or any person or entity for such purposes, may enter into any\nagreement required in connection therewith, may comply with any federal or state\nlaws or regulations applicable thereto, and may hold, use, and dispose of such\nmoney or property in accordance with the terms of the gift, grant, loan, or\nagreement relating thereto.","path":["KRS Chapter 96A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=26330","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:59Z","sha256":"e850e6d7f00cf25e68530d6d4a776aee96fa0ab6741586cbfd6a5e9565032447","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-96a.080","next":"us-ky/krs-96a.095"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
