{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-97.250","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 97.250","heading":"Powers of department of public parks and recreation in first -class cities --","body":"Employees -- Director of parks and recreation.\n(1) The department of public parks and recreation of any city of the first class shall\nexercise all of the powers and perform al l of the functions and duties of any former\nboard of park commissioners of the city, except as otherwise provided by law or by\nKRS 97.250 to 97.257. The agents and employees of the department of public parks\nand recreation, except as provided herein, shall  be employed and governed in\naccordance with the merit system, as provided by any law or amendments thereof,\nand any rules and regulations issued pursuant thereto, authorizing, creating and\ngoverning any city board or commission empowered to administer and enforce civil\nservice laws, rules and regulations in and for the city.\n(2) The department of public parks and recreation of any city of the first class shall be\nunder the supervision and direction of a director to be designated director of parks\nand recre ation, and shall have exclusive direction, supervision and control of all\npark property, as herein defined, except as otherwise provided by law or by KRS\n97.250 to 97.257 or by ordinance of the legislative body of said city; and shall\nprovide for and super vise all public amusements and recreation in parks,\nplaygrounds, and community centers. The director of the department may adopt\nrules and regulations for the reasonable and proper use, management and control of\npublic park, playground and community center  property, and may organize the\ndepartment for administrative purposes into the divisions necessary for the proper\nconduct of the business of said department, and appoint heads or chiefs of the\ndivisions, who, under the supervision and control of the direc tor, shall have the\ndirection of such divisions.","path":["KRS Chapter 97"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=26381","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:59Z","sha256":"08f7a11b63a0786008fc07544d84eea045ba9258b6da8f7cc46402e7dc454ef3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-97.240","next":"us-ky/krs-97.251"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
