{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-97.252","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 97.252","heading":"Title to and control of park property -- Exemption from taxation -- Use for","body":"streets -- Contracts for use of aviation fields -- Control of public ways acquired\nfor park purposes.\n(1) The title to all property with all improvements and equipment acquired  for park,\nairport or aviation field purposes, subject to any existing leases thereof, shall be\nheld by the city in strict and inviolable trust for such public purposes, free from all\ntaxation, imposts or assessments by state, county, district, municipal, or other\ngovernmental subdivision; but the city may use any portion of such property as is\nnecessary and proper for the construction, extension, or widening of streets,\nboulevards, thoroughfares or other public ways, and may enter into contracts or\nagreements, with reference to properties acquired for airport or aviation field\npurposes, for the use of the field and airport for aviation purposes, with the United\nStates government or any agency thereof, or any state government or any agency\nthereof, or any board of aviation established under any act of the General Assembly\nof this Commonwealth, or of any other commonwealth or state, or any individual,\nfirm or corporation. However, it shall at no time and in no way enter into any\ncontract or agreement that prev ents its carrying out the main purpose of the\nestablishment and maintenance of a public municipal aviation field and airport, for\nthe general use of the citizens of the city as a park purpose.\n(2) Such park property as consists of all connecting parkways a nd roads or drives\nbetween public parks, and all avenues, roads, ways, drives, walks, outside of or on\nthe boundaries of public parks which were or are acquired for park purposes, shall\nbe under the direction, control, maintenance and management of the dep artment of\npublic works of the city, and any such property may be declared by resolution of the\nboard of aldermen to be a part of the public ways of the city.","path":["KRS Chapter 97"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=26383","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:59Z","sha256":"cf5397f2ad501a97afea4357c5716aa19d7a06519d5d922f772b41e22518038e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-97.251","next":"us-ky/krs-97.253"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
