{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-99.710","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 99.710","heading":"Ordinance adopting provisions of state statutes on blighted or deteriorated","body":"areas -- Vacant property review commission.\n(1) If the legislative body of a local government finds and declares that there exist\nwithin the jurisdiction of the local governm ent blighted or deteriorated properties\nand that there is need for the exercise of powers, functions, and duties conferred by\nKRS 99.700 to 99.730 within the jurisdiction of the local government, the\nlegislative body may adopt the provisions of KRS 99.700 to 99.730 by ordinance.\n(2) The ordinance adopting the provisions of KRS 99.700 to 99.730 shall:\n(a) Establish a vacant property review commission, which shall certify properties\nas blighted or deteriorated to the legislative body. The ordinance shall spec ify\nthe duties of, the number of members that will serve on, the requirements of\nmembership, and the makeup of the commission. Members of the commission\nshall be appointed by the mayor or the county judge/executive, as the case\nmay be, and approved by the legislative body; or\n(b) Assign the duties that would otherwise be fulfilled by a vacant property\nreview commission under KRS 99.700 to 99.730 to an alternative government\nentity.\n(3) The governing body of a local government adopting the provisions of KRS 99.700\nto 99.730 may also, by ordinance, authorize the commission or alternative\ngovernment entity to identify and certify properties for inclusion in a tax\ndelinquency diversion program established by the local government as provided in\nKRS 99.727.\n(4) No officer or employee of the local government whose duties include enforcement\nof housing, building, plumbing, fire, nuisance, or related codes shall be appointed to\nthe commission or serve on the governing body of an alternative government entity.\n(5) Nothing in KRS 99.705 to 99.730 shall prevent the duties of a vacant property\nreview commission from being assigned to a local government code enforcement\nboard established pursuant to KRS 65.8801 to 65.8839.","path":["KRS Chapter 99"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45362","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:02Z","sha256":"b1b82b10ae1f9f2a25f3f35d69bb17c422d7b520c7fe2c7e04336ca8db2d69e8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-99.705","next":"us-ky/krs-99.715"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
