{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-99.780","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 99.780","heading":"Legislative findings.","body":"The General Assembly finds and declares that:\n(1) Abandoned and blighted residential, commercial, and industrial buildings are a\nnuisance and public safety threat to communities across the Commonwealth,\nnegatively affecting quality of life and surrounding property values. If not\nrehabilitated, the buildin gs are likely to remain abandoned and subject to further\ndeterioration, resulting in increased costs to the Commonwealth, local governments,\nand taxpayers;\n(2) Providing a mechanism to transform abandoned and blighted buildings into\nproductive reuse and re turn to the market is an opportunity for communities\nthroughout the Commonwealth to revitalize, grow, and improve the quality of life\nof its citizens; and\n(3) If the owner of an abandoned and blighted residential, commercial, or industrial\nbuilding fails t o maintain a building in compliance with applicable public safety\nhousing, building, and nuisance code requirements, it is in the public interest for the\ncourt, pursuant to KRS 99.780 to 99.855, to appoint a conservator to bring the\nbuilding into complianc e with applicable code requirements before the building\nsustains further deterioration preventing future productive economic use.","path":["KRS Chapter 99"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51830","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:02Z","sha256":"596c336b9e504e9f08db0a4ef5f88e176cc28dca23fedd7ac55c7cbc086665f5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-99.771","next":"us-ky/krs-99.785"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
