(a) If a person is found guilty of committing a fraudulent life settlement act, that person shall also be guilty of committing insurance fraud and shall be subject to additional penalties.\n(b) The commissioner may levy a civil penalty, not to exceed $10,000 for each violation, upon any person, including those persons and their employees licensed pursuant to sections 213 to 223E, inclusive, who is found to have committed a fraudulent life settlement act or violated any other provision of sections 213 to 223E, inclusive.\n(c) The license of a person licensed under sections 213 to 223E, inclusive, that has committed a fraudulent life settlement act shall be revoked for at least 1 year.","path":["Part I","Title XXII","Chapter 175"],"source_url":"https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartI/TitleXXII/Chapter175/Section223D","current_through":"amendments passed before May 31, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T05:24:10Z","sha256":"5fb6adeb22fa40c6285d5111c3d619000d7e0c4f76fd8d14ba071b2e92593526","source_id":"us-ma","stale":false,"prev":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-175-223c","next":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-175-223e"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
