Laws ch. 21H, § 6D","heading":"Sale of mercury-added thermostats and other mercury-added products","body":"Section 6D. (a) No person shall sell or offer to sell or distribute a mercury-added thermostat in the commonwealth.\n(b) No person shall sell or offer to sell or distribute in the commonwealth the following mercury-added products:\n(1) barometers;\n(2) esophageal dilators, bourgie tubes or gastrointestinal tubes;\n(3) flow meters;\n(4) hydrometers;\n(5) hygrometers or psychrometers;\n(6) manometers;\n(7) pyrometers;\n(8) sphygmomanometers; or\n(9) basal thermometers.\n(c) Subsections (a) and (b) shall not apply: (i) to the sale of mercury-added products if the use of the product is a federal requirement; (ii) to the sale of thermometers if they are determined to be medically necessary by a licensed physician or are ordered by prescription, or (iii) to the sale of mercury-added antique barometers, including antique barometers with attached mercury thermometers, if the barometer was manufactured prior to 1955.","path":["Part I","Title II","Chapter 21H"],"source_url":"https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartI/TitleII/Chapter21H/Section6D","current_through":"amendments passed before May 31, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T05:20:02Z","sha256":"f04d600b4c82af4145e11e1c9cac7ab4a007a5bb9c8482aeebd2f948be9239be","source_id":"us-ma","stale":false,"prev":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-21h-6c","next":"us-ma/mass.-gen.-laws-ch.-21h-6e"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
